e-Prescribing in Australia

Late last month I shared some details on the Health Connection Engine that we’re builing in colaboration with Simpl in New Zealand.

My inbox this morning had a story that does a good job of demonstrating what the technology might be used for.

AustralianIT’s headline is “Microsoft joins electronic prescribing project“, and opens with a brief description of the project;

MICROSOFT is putting its muscle behind a national electronic prescribing project, eRX Script Exchange, intended to create a secure gateway that allows doctors to send scripts to pharmacies online.

Pharmacy IT supplier Fred Health plans to deliver the system Australia-wide by mid-2009, in partnership with New Zealand software and consulting company Simpl and Microsoft Australia.

Follow the link to the story if you are interested in learning more.
